Placement Testing Policies

1. The tester must have applied to Mitchell Technical College (Mitchell Tech) before testing.

2. The Placement Tests offered at Mitchell Tech are the ACCUPLACER NextGen and the Residual ACT.

   1. ACCUPLACER NextGen

      1. All Programs

         1. Writing

         2. Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra and Statistics (QRAS)

   2. Residual ACT

      1. Students applying for Radiologic Technology

3. Cost

   1. Residual ACT

      1. Free to prospective Radiologic Technology students

   2. ACCUPLACER NextGen

      1. Free for initial placement test

      2. Free re-testing for acceptance

      3. $10 per section or $35 for entire test if retesting to “test-out” of prep class than one week prior to start of school

4. Retesting

   1. Students must wait 30 days before re-testing

   2. Students are only allowed to take the ACCUPLACER NextGen twice

5. Transfer/Transcribed Credit

   1. Transfer/Transcribed credit for ENGL 101 or 110 meets the placement testing requirements for writing

   2. Transfer/Transcribed credit for MATH 105 meets the placement testing requirements for QRAS

6. Testing for other schools

   1. ACCUPLACER NextGen

      1. $35 for entire test

      2. $10 per section

7. Results mailed to other schools after testing for or attending Mitchell Tech

   1. $5 fee

   2. Must have $0 balance with Mitchell Tech Business Office
